Powering everything on appeals to the (living) museum side of K-SPACE. Powering off (noticeably) saves electricity, possibly the equipment, and time (encouraging to switch more on more often).

System to safely power-on/-off a bunch of systems from a single switch / control.
DOS systems are safe to just power off.
Hook in to power button (and LED?). Optically isolate! Kristjan: one spark could propagate upstream.
Print out signs that old systems do not tolerate pull-plug.

NB: DOS may have smartdrive running that caches hdd access, no clue how well it tolerates pulling power
