Before applying replace the secret with the actual one.

For debugging add - --log-level=debug:

kubectl apply -n external-dns -f external-dns.yml

Insert TSIG secret:

 kubectl -n external-dns create secret generic tsig-secret \
    --from-literal=TSIG_SECRET=<secret>
