  • first batch inventory → very mixed configurations
  • second batch (+ inventory)
  • configure servers to matching hardware? or what makes sense?
  • cleaning server room racks, moving servers
  • mounting servers to racks, iLO 'federation'?
  • PVE VM reboots to not use plain host CPU, but a custom profile.
  • Completely moving PVE from blades to pizzaboxes
  • Migrate remaining non-PVE blades.
  • Offline blade enc
  • Monitor power consumption and PVE

Next up: We might try on-node CEPH. Adminning, backups, restoring backups, partial restores, encryption? Migrating off of NAS?

We probably also need to buy some nvme and or sata ssd drives for the new servers

  • OS boot drive in raid1
  • some extra for more PVE local storage?

It would probably make sense to use the 2U height ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers for new Proxmox nodes

  • They have 2x sata/sas 2.5" drive slots in the back, pretty nice for OS drives
  • 3.5" drive bays in front
  • 40Gbit Mellanox ConnectX3 cards that go into the FLOM are quite cheap (HP 764285-B21)
  • 3x internal 8x PCIe slots for nvme (Samsung PM983?) or additional 10Gbit networking tho sadly no support for bifubrication :(

TBD what is inside the Zone donated fujitsu and supermicro servers and what is their power consumption

cc @arti why HP plan got replaced with SM?

SM servers are racked, three of them got initial OS install, and wired up yesterday, on the fourth, SATA disks don't show up (in the back bays).
